Header crushes

http://www.shutterbean.com/

I like this header because it is bold and I like the different fonts off to the side the tell you what you are about to get into. And, I love black and white.

I like the header for a bunch of reasons, gray and pinks is a tope competitor for favorite color paletts right now. I love the simplicity of it. I love that nothing is capitalized, it give a much more casual feel, to the crisp image. I like the mor traditional front against the playfulness of the pig, I think over all it's a great branding image. And, I love that this header is to the left side of the page, not at the top. It's unique, and I love.

Seeing a trend, I like simple, clean and crisp. I like the cursive, the cal-line of the L being so much higher than the T's give the text a nice playful attitude.

I read, well, I look at a lot of blogs, and find very few that I'm fond of with images in the header. I think it's much for the most part.

New Header

I need to start taking notes when I do this class work.

I used a front called, Lavanderia, from Lost Type Co-op for the cursive letters.

For the other letters I, believed I used Constantia, from computer. For the large M and L used a separate text box and converted those to a path, used the direct selection tool to move the bottom most points of the letters down.

I tried a few glow filters, but that’s not really me. I’m more of a bevel, emboss, letterpress kind of a gal. So, I used the raid emboss filter. I did not use a filter because they did not make a huge difference on my image and I liked it better plain.

Image post #3

Here's a little collage I made with some random pictures I had on this computer.

.png

.png

I really this site because the pull out some of the colors in the image. I suppose that appeals so greatly to me because I like to know how things work. I also really like these colors, they remide me of how I feel when the weather is stormy like it is and my oven is full of high calorie goodies.

I'm not sure why this person used .png. I saved the file and opened in in Firewroks, and in the 4 up preview the jpeg version was 16k while the png version is 115k

.jpeg

I like this image, because I'm hungry and had food poisoning the past 2 days and can't eat any
thing that tastes good even thought I really want to. It's a jpeg, I think it's a jpeg because food photography requires a lot of detail and that seems to be the best option to capture lots of detail.

.png (?)

Um, so this is a .png file according to it's file name. I google searched .png files because I'm running out of time. This image of pork and apples goes against everything .png that I saw out there.... I guess it just works for this image and reduces file size...

Border Picture 2 ways

First impression, wow, this is a lot of steps to add a border.
My first attempts was with my puppy dog. The second attempt was with a cake I made a few years ago....I still feel like this is a lot of steps to add a border. I did enjoy learning and seeing the difference is file types.

Color crushing

Spoon Fork Bacon

Major crush on these colors, the attitude, friendliness, and warmth the comes through the simplicity just amazes me.

What can I say, clean, classic, bright color accents... I'm all about it.

Sweetopia

I really like this lay out, clean, easy to read. I really like these colors, again clean, not cluttery, nice contract. I don't like th overall look of this page, and I think it's because of the type. I don't think the front goes well with the colors. I would like to se something more crisp and not so italic.

It's a party blog, and it feels like it. Bright colors, fonts with a little attitude. There's a lot going on here, but it's still easy enough to find your way around. Like a good party, fun, interesting and not overwhelming.

You could be my flamingo 'Cause pink is the new kinda lingo

And I went with purple!

For more color inspirtation lay your eyes on The Perfect Palette. This is one of my favorite applications of color, parties!.

The color plaetts of my life right now are:

Gray, white and stainless steal with yellow accents because we are just finishing a kitchen remodel and that’s what I picked.

Dark plum, white and off white because those are the colors of my friends wedding that I’m forcing my way into helping with.

Yellow and pink because my cousin is having a baby girl and I’m in charge of the baby shower. Pink Lemonade.

Black and white. It was passed down to by my Grandma as a crisp, clean, classis, trendy and favorite color palette , suitable for any occasion. And, like my Grandma, will always hold a special place in my heart.

Now for something that means something, my grade: After watching the presenter files that were provided for us I decided that I wanted to go with purple for the main color for today’s exercise because it was started that purple is the least used color and I feel like making trouble this evening.

I don’t tend to like dark, or very saturated color, so I tired to force myself out of my comfort zone. Normally I would have done a light gray and white background, a very, very, light almost whit- lavender background for the text and dark gray, text, for everything. But, I did none of that. I chose a pattern for my background then chose a lovely shade of purple. From there, I thought a deeper, more saturated purple would be nice so I picked one of those. Copy pasted the color code into the boxes for different text and move the selection tool up for lighter, less saturated shades of the color. I went with some white heading because I love white I could not help myself. Chose a dark gray footer because I think it had nice contrast to the purple above it and then was able to bring my purple theme into the footer as a text color because there is enough contrast between the light purple and the dark gray for the test to stand out and be read. I did not change my ‘header’ image to match because I have a lot to do tonight and think we will be changing the blogs again, so, I’m sorry that piece of it looks completely out of place, it is.

Mutli-Layout Personality.

I like being able to customize the layout colors in the advance menu, but I can't wait to make my own templets, upload my own patterns and what not. I had a hard time picking what layout I liked that best. I like simple, I appreciate white space andI love polka dots, so I'm making a temporary commitment to them. I recently fell in love with Gray. I know, right?! Gray. But yes, it was a huge surprise to me too, but for being plain it sure goes with a lot and adds color with out adding clutter. I can't describe my emotional attachement to gray very well, as you can probably tell, but it's a color crush.

Looking at them side by side, I'd like to switch the hot pink in the 'gadgets' to dark gray. I want them have a white background as well. And, I would like a just a little more space between the side bars and the content text.

Websites

Pinterest.

Pinterest is one of my favorite websites at the moment. I waste hours and hours here. I can procrastinate for hours just looking and what other people are looking at. And, they even have a phone app so I can't keep myself up at night doing nothing. Sometime I trick myself that this is a useful tool, allowing me to catalog and categorize all thing I might want to look up in the future.

Introduction

Hi I'm Melissa. My mom calles me messy, my friends call me creative, it's my mess and I love it. You can usually find me in the kitchen, I love cooking. If I'm not there, I'm probably riding my dirt bike, playing with my bulldog, out having wine adventures, planning a party, or behind my computer or camera trying to make something pretty. I work a lot, I'm a Webcast Producer for CPE for accounting, I waitress once a week, and I'm trying to get my own event planning and catering business off the ground. Being my true, ADD-OCD-control freak-self that I am wanted to learn how to build my own website. When it will live at www.honeybevents.com, I also hope that these new skills help me in my bill-paying webcasting job as well.
